HGFD is a family business run by Linda and Andi Aikman, originally created to provide high quality catering facilities to large scale events such as weddings, festivals, restaurants and film sets.
In March 2020, when the Covid-19 pandemic caused lockdowns all over the world we set up our home delivery arm HGFD Produce, to make sure that even if you can't go out, you can still enjoy that same high quality food from the comfort of your own kitchen.
This proved so popular that in the August we took over a farm shop in a village called Langthorpe, near to Boroughbridge in North Yorkshire. Setting up a new premises and a café in the middle of all the Covid restrictions may sound a bit ridiculous, and it was certainly challenging and stressful at times, but now we look at what we have achieved with great delight and we hope you will too!
At HGFD we have a passion that everyone should be able to enjoy high quality food, even in the height of a global pandemic!
- Local - All of our suppliers and market contacts are local, independent companies. This is especially important to us to keep the local economy going. Many suppliers we have had great connections with for years, but we are also taking on more to give you even more variety.
- Fresh - Our fruit and veg boxes are hand selected by us from our fabulous established market contacts. These are often 6 or 7 days fresher than supermarkets. Our meat also comes directly from the butchers, rather than a distributor or middleman.
- High Quality - We're extremely particular when it comes to the quality of food we accept in our shop, deliveries or on any event/site. Every item, whether it is an ingredient or a full cooked lunch in the café is restaurant standard.
Linda is one of the founders of HGFD. She is also the Chairman of the Ripon Amateur Operatic Society and spends a lot of her spare time helping to put on shows and fundraising.
Andi is Linda's husband and co-owner of HGFD. Along with the shop he also manages the website and the industrial side of the business, sometimes being away for weeks at a time on a film set.
Chris is chef at HGFD charged with making the delicious food for the cafe and ready meal sections. Coming from being Head Chef at Swinton Park, he's got quality written all over him.
